Why We Created the Lore Story Coach Certification Workshop

When I became the owner of Lore, I knew I didn’t want to do this work alone. I had just finished working with Co-op Dayton—a nonprofit dedicated to building cooperative businesses—and I was covered in the belief that community and business could grow together. That belief followed me into Lore.

Storytelling, after all, is a communal act. So why wouldn’t story coaching be one too?

I started picturing something bigger. A coaching team. Not just assistants or volunteers—but people stepping into exactly what I was doing. Teaching. Coaching. Holding space. Helping others find meaning in their stories and their lives.

This work changed my life. Becoming a full-time story coach gave me a way to do what I love—connecting people to themselves, to each other, and to something bigger than both. Through community events, corporate workshops, and one-on-one coaching, I’ve seen how stories can spark healing, clarity, even policy change. But what would it look like for more people to do this work?What if someone else could take their love for stories and turn it into a career, or a calling?

Watching Bridget thrive in the corporate world as a story coach was confirmation. She didn’t just teach storytelling—she taught leadership, empathy, and confidence through story. Meanwhile, I was growing in the value of my own voice in every room I entered. That’s when I knew Lore wasn’t meant to be a solo mission. It was meant to be a movement—with coaches, each with their own flavor and specialty, building something real.

So I created Become a Story Coach—not just as a class, but as an invitation.
